~June Highlights~

I have to often explain myself when it comes to how much I read. I don’t skim read. I also don’t think I read very fast. Reading is just my escape. It is my happy place. I listen to audiobooks when I do chores, work out, and when I drive. Instead of watching Netflix or having a social life, I read. I only went 4 days without reading this month and that is because I was trying to catch up on writing reviews. “Trying” is the keyword here, I am still 6 reviews behind. But I love this book life. Books have saved me. I would say I averaged 4 hours of reading per day, so I was able to fit in quite a few books this month. Many of those hours were spent by the pool while my family went swimming. This heatwave is no joke. As soon as I finish editing this post, I will be finishing up my last book of June, Ribbons of Scarlet. But overall, I read 16 books and listened to 8 books. Two of the books I have been reading a chapter a day since January, I just happened to finish this month. Those books are:

1) Stamped From the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi~ I started reading this book in January. I have been reading a tiny section every day while annotating and taking notes so that way I can learn as much as possible.
2) The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien~ If you follow my Tolkien Tuesday posts then you know I have only been reading a chapter a week for the past couple of weeks. I have now started The Unfinished Tales.
