~Weekly TBR and Quotes~

I have so many ARCs with due dates coming up that my posting schedule is just filled with reviews! So I have been dropping the ball on my weekly TBR updates and quotes! So I thought I would combine the two this week!

Weekly TBR:

1) Slaughterhouse by Gail A. Eisnitz ~ I am really trying to wrap up my Summer Reading List
2) The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin
3) The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward
4) The Book of Hope by Jane Goodall
5) Blackbeard by Craig Cabell

Which should I start with?

Now it is time for my favorite quotes from my recent reads:

“The wolf never kills for fun, which is probably one of the main differences distinguishing him from man.”

Never Cry Wolf

“… the Auschwitz dressmaking salon became a refuge, saving seamstresses and non-sewers alike. Marta’s wider involvement in resistance runs like silvery threads through the murky weave of Auschwitz life.”

The Dressmakers of Auschwitz

“Actually,’ she said, ‘since it is late now, I think I’ll start work tomorrow morning.’
A simple act of agency such as this was powerfully restorative to someone whose independence had been so radically stripped away.”

The Dressmakers of Auschwitz

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair a broken man…”

Attributed to Frederick Douglas in The Rage of Innocence

“Research shows that the link between stressful events and trauma symptoms is even strong during adolescence than childhood.”

The Rage of Innocence

“To thrive, Black youth must learn to resist and transcend harmful racial ideas and stereotypes that seek to limit them.”

The Rage of Innocence
